Dian Weddle is Co-Director of the National Policy and Resource Center on Nutrition and Aging and Associate Professor in the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition at Florida International University in Miami, FL. Her present research focus is on the outcomes of nutrition-related community services and networks that help older adults remain independent at home. She is currently working on the development of an integrated Aging, Nutrition and Extension network to reduce malnutrition risk among older adults in rural America, funded by the USDA Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service. She recently completed the evaluation of the AoA - General Mills Foodservice, Inc., public/private partnership "Morning Meals on Wheels Breakfast Pilot Program". She has published articles on nutrition screening and care management for older adults and is the lead co-author on the American Dietetic Association's Position Paper: Nutrition, Aging, and the Continuum of Care. She has made numerous national and regional presentations on developing and using collaborations to improve the nutritional health and independence of frail, community residing older adults.
Weddle is a member of the Florida Department of Elder Affairs Elder Nutrition Advisory Committee. Locally, she serves on the Advisory Council, the Programs and Services Committee and chairs the Nutrition Task Force for the Alliance for Aging, Inc., the Area Agency on Aging for Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties.
Weddle, a registered dietitian, is certified as a Charter Fellow of the American Dietetic Association. She holds a doctorate in Public Policy Analysis from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
